BACKGROUND AND CULTURE
Super yacht owners can expect to find a courteous and welcoming Croatia that is determined to live up to its bountiful heritage and is increasingly aiming at catering to the luxury market.
Refreshingly, Croatians are not dazzled by celebrity and wealth. Crime is low, the quality of life is good, and the cost of living is cheaper than in Western Europe. Language isn’t a problem either as English, German and Italian are widely spoken, especially along the coast and amongst the nautical tourism fraternity.

The “customer is king” attitude to tourism is not firmly embedded in Croatian culture. Although the quality of service is generally good, everyone is treated equally and at a similar pace. This makes for a very refreshing change from the more sophisticated Western Med approach to super yacht visitors.

NATIONAL PARKS
Croatia has eight national parks, four of which are located in its mountain region:
1. NP Risnjak
2. NP Plitvice Lakes - a UNESCO world heritage sight
3. NP Northern Velebit
4. NP Paklenica

These four are found in its coastal region:
1. NP Brijuni
2. NP Kornati
3. NP Krka
4. NP Mljet

All of these have contributed to Croatia being considered one of the most beautiful destinations in all of Europe.

UNESCO IN CROATIA
UNESCO has given three Croatian cities and two colossal complexes the status of monuments of world cultural heritage;

1. Late Antique Palace of Diocletian, remodeled through the centuries into the medieval city of Split
2. City of Dubrovnik
3. City of Trogir
4. The Basilica of Euphrasius in Porec
5. Cathedral of St.Jacob in Sibenik
